GMG Woodcrafts are projects sourced, designed, and crafted by Garrett Goto in Santa Cruz, California. Garrett inherited his interest in woodworking from his grandfather, Carl Kawamoto, an accomplished carpenter in the San Francisco Bay Area. Unfortunately, it wasn't until after his grandfather's passing that Garrett really began to take up woodworking.
Over the last few years, his projects have ranged from basic furniture to cutting boards, spearguns, chessboards, book ends, dice, dominos, and knife handles. His curiosity continues and he is ever pursuing new woodworking projects, styles, tools, and techniques. Garrett seeks out time in the woodshop to clear his mind and develop creative thinking. Each project is carefully planned, with wood type, workability, functionality, and grain pattern in mind. Garrett can think of no happier place than in the woodshop, with a pencil in hand and the smell of sawdust in the air. Check out the latest on Instagram and this feature article from Shoutout LA.
